“Please think of the medical professionals who risk their lives.”
In his new interview with Entertainment, Weekly Taylor discussed the track “Epiphany” from the folklore album, which has lines that remind people of the hard work of medical staff during the coronavirus pandemic.
“We need to responsibly approach quarantine, think about healthcare workers who risk their lives – and often lose their lives,” she told EW. “A lot of people don’t seem to understand the full scale of this problem – and if they do, then many don’t care, and it makes me very upset.
Taylor was inspired to write this song by her grandfather, who survived the war. Epiphany juxtaposes difficult wartime with the Covid-19 pandemic. “The connection between the difficult quarantine time and the hostilities is the connection that I made and reflected in my song.”
